Owners Sarah and Damien carry on a long tradition of good food and genuine hospitality. Our menu highlights favourites like slow-cooked pork belly bowls, house-baked pies, sausage rolls, and plenty of seasonal specials, all made with care and a focus on local ingredients.
The Trading Post is also a handy stop for wine, gifts, books and picnic supplies, plus an Australia Post outlet in-store. Whether you’re passing through on your way to the trails, visiting open gardens, or just after a good coffee, the Trading Post is a welcoming hub for locals and visitors alike.
What's In Store
The Trading Post is a proper general store: stocked with everything you might need for a day on the Mount or a week in the Ranges. Alongside the café, you'll find a curated bottle shop with wine from Macedon Ranges producers, locally brewed beer from Rock and Ranges Brewing, and a selection of interstate drops. There are gifts, books, cards, and picnic supplies, and we operate as the official Australia Post outlet for Mount Macedon, with PO Box rentals available in-store.
The take-home fridge is stocked with ready-made meals and soups from the Mount Macedon Kitchen, made fresh on-site and ready to heat up at home. It's a good option whether you're a local after an easy weeknight dinner or a visitor stocking up a holiday house.
MOUNT MACEDON KITCHEN
The Trading Post is the home of Mount Macedon Kitchen, our in-house food label. Everything under the Mount Macedon Kitchen name is made fresh on-site: preserves, biscuits, brownies, granola, spiced nuts, cakes, and seasonal condiments, all produced with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients.
You'll find the full range in the store, in the café cabinet, and available to order online for pick up or delivery Australia-wide. Our gift hampers are packed with Kitchen staples and make a genuinely good present for anyone who loves good food.
On the Mount
The Trading Post sits in the heart of the Mount Macedon village, about an hour from Melbourne CBD via the Calder Freeway. It's one of Victoria's most visited cool-climate destinations, and with good reason.
The Memorial Cross and Sanatorium Lake are a short walk from the store. Forest Glade Gardens and Duneira Estate are both within the village. Hanging Rock is a 15-minute drive. Whether you're walking the trails, visiting open gardens, or simply taking a drive up the hill for the view, the Trading Post is a natural place to start or finish the day.
