What's On in the Macedon Ranges — August 2026

August is one of those months where the Macedon Ranges rewards a day out. The calendar is full without being overwhelming, most of what's on sits within minutes of the mount, and there's still enough quiet between events to make the drive feel worth it.

Here's what's on for the rest of the month, and where the Trading Post fits in.

Tuesday 4 August — Duneira Estate: Historical House and Art Collection Guided Tour

Duneira Estate opens its doors for a guided tour of the historic house and art collection — a rare chance to get inside one of Mount Macedon's most significant heritage properties and see its remarkable private collection up close. A Tuesday morning on the mountain, done properly.

Wednesday 5 August — Botanical Dyeing Workshop, Woodend

The Woodend Neighbourhood House is hosting a Botanical Dyeing Workshop for anyone who's curious about what you can make from plants, fabric and a bit of time. Woodend is twenty minutes from the mount — close enough to make a morning of it and still be back for lunch.

Saturday 8 and 15 August — Art to Wear: Meet the Makers at The Gallery Mt Macedon

The Gallery Mt Macedon is running its Art to Wear exhibition through August, with ten textile artists displaying wearable garments, hats, scarves and more. On the 8th and 15th from 1–4pm, several of the makers will be in the Gallery in person. Free entry, and worth taking your time with. The Gallery sits directly behind the Trading Post on Mt Macedon Road, so the combination practically plans itself.

Saturday 22 August — Kangaroo Walk & Talk at Hanging Rock

Hanging Rock Reserve is hosting a free guided Kangaroo Walk & Talk from 2:30 to 3:30pm — a relaxed way to get into the landscape and see the resident kangaroo mob up close. Hanging Rock is fifteen minutes from the Trading Post, which makes it an easy afternoon addition to a day that starts with coffee and something from the cabinet.

Saturday 29 August — Macedon Village Farmers' Market

The Macedon Village Farmers' Market wraps up the month's market calendar, running 9am to 1pm in Macedon — just down the road from the mount. If you've never combined a morning market run with lunch at the Trading Post, this is a good excuse to start.
