What's On in the Macedon Ranges — September 2026

Spring arrives in the Macedon Ranges in the best possible way. The mornings are still crisp, the gardens are starting to wake up, and September brings with it some of the most anticipated events on the regional calendar. Here's what's happening in and around Mount Macedon this month.


Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival — 4 to 13 September

Kicking things off is one of the Ranges' most beloved annual events. The Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival runs from Friday 4 to Sunday 13 September, with the 2026 theme "The Bulb & The Beautiful." Ten days of open gardens, art exhibitions, workshops, live music, markets and distinctly Kyneton activities — including Ferret Racing, the Bull Boar Eating Competition, Rock House Tours, and a Scarecrow Trail throughout the town.


The centrepiece is the Grand Parade on Sunday 13 September, which closes out the festival and draws a crowd every year. Art on Piper runs across the full ten days, and the Open Gardens program gives visitors access to some of the most beautiful private gardens in the region.


If you're heading down from the Mount, Kyneton is about 20 minutes and well worth the drive in September when the daffodils are in full force.

Father's Day at the Trading Post — Sunday 6 September


Father's Day falls right in the middle of festival weekend. There's no better way to start it than a Big Breakkie at the Trading Post — walk-ins welcome, no bookings needed — and we'll put a coffee on the house for Dad. Come as you are.


AFL Grand Final Long Weekend — 25 to 27 September


Arguably the biggest long weekend on the Victorian calendar. We'll be open across the whole weekend, just with some adjusted hours:


  • Friday 25 September (Public Holiday): 8am – 4pm

  • Saturday 26 September (Match Day): 7am – 2pm

  • Sunday 27 September: Normal hours


Bolobek Garden Fair — 3 & 4 October (and a Giveaway)

Just tipping into October but worth knowing about now: the Bolobek Garden Fair is on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October at Bolobek, 370 Mt Macedon Road, Macedon — 10am to 4pm both days. Over 50 specialist stallholders, guest speakers, and access to one of Victoria's most significant heritage gardens. More than 3,000 people come through every year, and it's not hard to see why.


Tickets are $20, with children under 16 free. And we're giving away 4 tickets through our mailing list. Subscribe before 25 September — winners announced that day.
